Subsurface Investigations

Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. has a variety of subsurface investigation equipment including

truck-, track- and barge-mounted drilling rigs,

cone penetration testing rigs, direct-push and

vibra core rigs.

Drilling

These rigs are capable of hollow-stem augering,

rotary wash drilling or wire-line rock coring. Our

drilling equipment includes:

• BK-51 Track-mounted
• BK-66 Two-wheel drive truck
• Diedrich D-50 Four-wheel drive truck
• CME-45 Four-wheel drive truck
• Diedrich D-50 Track-mounted
• Diedrich D-50 Two-wheel drive truck
• 40-foot Pontoon barge with Diedrich D-50

Direct Push

Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. has two (2) track-mounted Geoprobe 6625's. These units are capable

of macro-core sampling or when anchored, up to 20 tons of pushing capacity for Cone Penetration Testing (CPT) use, even though the equipment weighs less than 5 tons.

Vibra Core

Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. has a pneumatic 3-

inch vibra core capable of sampling up to 20 feet.

The vibra core is generally mounted on our 40-foot pontoon barge.

Cone Penetration Testing

The Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. cone

penetrometer system is designed to provide high quality geotechnical and hydrogeological in-situ

soil properties. Our 20-ton capacity truck- and track-mounted CPT units have a climate controlled operations center for maximum production,

regardless of weather conditions or time of day.

20 Ton Track Mounted CPT Rig

 

The 20 ton heavy weight, track-mounted penetrometer system is a self propelled

hydraulic remote controlled CPT system designed for rough terrain or areas where low ground pressure is required for access. It has two (2) double hydraulic cylinders coupled by

a plate that pushes and pulls electonric cones and other tools. It is powered by a 130 Hp

diesel engine.

 

20 Ton Truck CPT Rig

 

The 20 ton truck CPT rig is an ideal vehicle to provide a quick, cost effective mobile platform

for high production in geotechnical and environmental soils investigations. This

system is equipped with 5 and 10 ton seismic piezo cones and vision cones.
