Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. conducted geotechnical investigations and performed construction materials testing during construction of this 1.1 million sq. ft. regional lifestyle center with open air dining, unique shops and tourist attractions developed by Simon Property Group, Inc.

Located on Front Beach Road in the heart of Panama City Beach, the $100 million plus project includes lead stores Target, Dillard’s, and J.C. Penney with unique stores such as Ron Jon’s Surf Shop and Margaritaville. A 16-cinema “The Grand” Rave theater, is also included.

SES started this project testing for stormwater and infrastructure design. Geotechnical work progressed with Target, Dillard’s and J.C. Penney’s as well as multiple stores. Hundreds of standard penetrometer soundings were completed during each phase of the project. Complications to construction included organic soil deposits, loose sands and shallow groundwater.
