Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. performed subsurface investigation, geotechnical engineering, environmental analysis, and construction materials testing for a new limestone grinding facility for Mississippi Lime.

Three different sites were investigated for the facility. The chosen site required the placement of over fifteen feet of fill material over highly compressible marshland, requiring the use of prefabricated vertical drains (wick drains) to speed up the consolidation. Auger cast piles were used to support the major pieces of equipment, while smaller loads were placed on shallow foundations.
