Mississippi River Bridge, Point Coupee Parish & West – Feliciana Parish, LA
Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. has served as a subcontractor providing quality control testing on concrete, soil, cement, and asphalt for the construction of a 4-lane bridge, connecting Point Coupee Parish with West Feliciana Parish, La. Covering over 15 miles.
The construction includes two approach roads, one on each side of the west and east bank; and is over $200M in total project cost.
SESI’s role consists of laboratory testing, which included: soils investigations for classification purposes, proctors, ph and other mechanical procedures; testing of aggregates for gradation, abrasion and soundness; and testing of concrete for compression. Field work has included concrete testing for slump, air, temperature, and consistency. Field tests have also been conducted on soil for compaction, soil cement pulverization and spread, and aggregate base for compaction.
