Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. announced promotions and changes to key leadership staff as William H. Brenner, P.G. transitions out of the company president’s role. These actions are effective immediately and were planned strategic moves to ensure the continued success of the company. These changes include:

• President: Lewis Copeland, Jr., P.E.
Lewis has over 26 years’ experience in the engineering field with Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. He has held positions including Staff Geotechnical Engineer, Drilling Department Manager, Materials Testing Department Manager and most recently as Executive Vice President. Lewis earned his BS Degree in Civil Engineering from the University of South Alabama (1991) and is a native Mobilian. Lewis is licensed in Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and Louisiana.

• Vice President and Regional Manager (Alabama/Mississippi): Matt Coaker, P.E.
Matt has worked in the Geotechnical Engineering Department at SES since 2005. He has most recently served as the Geotechnical Department Manager overseeing all geotechnical and subsurface investigation work. He earned his engineering degree from the University of South Alabama (2004) and holds professional licenses in Alabama, Mississippi, Florida and Louisiana.

• Vice President and Regional Manager (Florida): Mark Wilson, P.E.
Mark joined SES over 28 years ago and has led our Tallahassee office since 1990. He is a 1988 Graduate of the University of South Alabama. Mark is licensed in Florida and Georgia.

• Vice President and Regional Manager (Louisiana): Mike Juneau, P.E., MBA
Mike has over 10 years of experience in the Geotechnical Engineering field and has held the position of Branch Manager for the Baton Rouge office for the past five years. Mike is a graduate of Louisiana State University (LSU) with a degree in Civil Engineering and minor in Construction Management. He also earned his M.S. in Business Administration from LSU. Mike is a licensed professional engineer in Louisiana.

• Panama City Branch Manager: Logan Fowler, P.E.
Logan has served as a staff engineer for Southern Earth Sciences, Inc. since 2011 when he graduated with a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Florida State University (FSU). Logan earned his Florida Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in January of this year.

The appointment of Lewis Copeland, P.E., as president has been long anticipated as I prepare for retirement and will preserve the continuity in leadership as he has been with the company over 26 years, having served as a Vice President for the last several years. Lewis has a shared vision with the board for continued growth of the company and has a strong desire to see SES thrive,” stated outgoing President, Bill Brenner, P.G.
